شاید بسیاری از عکسهای عباس عطار را دیدهباشید بی آن که بدانید چه کسی آنها را ثبت کردهاست. آقای عطار که با اسم کوچکش، عباس، شناخته میشد، در پاریس زندگی میکرد و از بسیاری از رویدادهای مهم جهان از جمله انقلاب ایران، جنگ ویتنام، عکاسی کرد.
مگنوم او را یک “شهروند واقعی جهان” خوانده که جنگها، بلایا، انقلابها و لحظات شگفتانگیز آن را ثبت کرده است.
عباس عطار در سال ۱۹۸۱ به آژانس عکس مگنوم پیوست. او پیش از آن با آژانس فرانسوی سیپا و گاما کار کرده بود.
بعد از عکاسی از وقایع انقلاب اسلامی ایران، عباس عطار ۱۷ سال در کشورهای مختلف از مکزیک تا ویتنام، ایرلند شمالی، کوبا، آفریقای شمالی و خاورمیانه عکاسی کرد.
